North America Plant Health Risk Assessment Scientist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, North America Plant Health Risk Assessment Scientist, are to:
Partner, innovate and drive risk assessment opportunities and technical paths that are aligned with plant health and precision breeding concepts for the purpose of protecting genetic gain and product performance;
Partner to inform optimal field testing within Plant Health and Breeding to ensure ideal pathogen footprint and conditions to drive needed insights related to durability and emerging disease trends;
Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive approach to enable disease simulation workflows and generate risk and durability assessments;
Partner, co-create, and own data insights across Plant Health to enable a robust yearly learning cycle from field and growth chamber experiments and contribute to metrics that inform our future strategy;
Collaborate and align with key stakeholders in breeding, field solutions, climate and commercial teams on strategies related to tailored solutions;
Participate and contribute to creative problem solving and new scientific approaches;
Work in partnership with global Plant Health projects and scientists;
Influence the North America (NA) Plant Health strategy by providing technical input to the planning and decision making process;
Keep abreast of new developments in domain and introduce actively them into projects;
Contribute to positive team culture and work ethos based on Bayer LIFE values;
Support the health safety and environment, compliance, business conduct and human rights policies and culture.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Degree in epidemiology, health science, pathology, or relevant field OR a Bachelor of Science with at least five years of relevant experience OR a Master of Science with at least two years of relevant experience OR a Ph.D. with at least one year relevant research experience;
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
Demonstrated experience influencing activities of cross functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
Excellent communication skills;
Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, facilitate solutions;
Results orientated with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
Strong analytical and project management skills with the ability to balance the big picture with great attention to detail.
Practical experience and machine learning analysis techniques.
Knowledge and experience in plant physiology and computational biology.
