Overview Utah State University's Department of Plants, Soils and Climate seeks applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track faculty position in Weed Science at the Assistant Professor level. Responsibilities of this position are 65% research, 30% teaching and 5% service. The successful candidate is expected to teach integrated weed management at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and build an externally funded nationally and internationally recognized research program relevant to the management of weeds in agronomic crops, horticultural crops, and natural landscapes.
Responsibilities The applicant selected to fill this position is expected to successfully compete for internal and extramural funding to support their research, successfully recruit, train and mentor graduate students, communicate research results at professional meetings, and publish research in refereed journals. Engagement with colleagues within the Department of Plants, Soils and Climate and other departments at Utah State University and with weed scientists within the state and region is expected.
The successful candidate is expected to teach an undergraduate course focused on the principles of weed biology, ecology, and management in agricultural and horticultural ecosystems and a graduate course in the candidate's field of expertise. Natural Resources, and researchers in entomology and plant pathology housed in the Biology Department. Several USDA Laboratories (Poisonous Plant Research Laboratory, Forage and Range Research Laboratory, and the Pollinating Insect Research Laboratory) are located on campus and offer much potential for collaboration.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. in weed management or a closely related discipline such as agronomy, horticulture or plant science.
Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research in weed management.
Aptitude and passion for classroom and laboratory instruction
Demonstrated willingness to support diversity and inclusion in academic settings
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated experience in classroom and laboratory instruction.
Experience in attracting extramural funding for research.
Evidence of collaborative research.
