The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized and competitively-funded research program in weed science that focuses on the ecology and management of weeds in major crops grown by small to mid-sized farming communities in Missouri. Responsibilities include conducting basic and translational research to solve weed management problems for the Missouri crops industry, and creating programs that address critical and emerging issues. Collaborate with faculty members within the University and other institutions and contribute to relevant professional societies. The incumbent may be required to teach courses relevant to to their expertise, supervise graduate students, provide service to the Department, College and University and perform any other duty as assigned. The successful candidate is expected to work with University's farm employees, extension educators, farmers, ranchers and industry partners.
A Ph. D in Weed Science, Agronomy or a closely related field is required. Applicants shoudl have demonstrated capacity to conduct quality research, publish research articles in impactful peer reviewed journals, and secure extramural funding through grant proposals. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred. Background in experimental design, data management, and statistics are essential. In addition, experience with weed management practices in regenerative organic and no-till farming systems that improve soil, environment and farm economic outcomes are highly desirable. Knowledge on managing introduced invasive species in woodlands and grasslands will also be beneficial for this position. Interpersonal, effective oral and written communication skills and willingness and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with diverse faculty members, staff and students are essential for this position
