Research (Plant) Geneticist (Postdoctoral Research Associate)
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Crop Improvement and Protection Unit, Salinas, California, has three Research (Plant) Geneticist (Postdoctoral Research Associate) positions open. The selectees will be expected to identify and characterize the mechanisms, genes, QTL, molecular markers, and traits underlying abiotic (salt, drought, heat, or cold) stress tolerance in lettuce. Conduct QTL mapping and study the gene expression and inheritance of abiotic stress tolerance traits.  Incorporate the beneficial traits into new lettuce cultivars. Adapt, modify or develop new methods, techniques and/or tools to satisfy the needs of the research. The grant-funded positions are full time not to exceed 2 years with a possibility of exten
