Jackrabbits Athletics competes as an NCAA Division I member with membership in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the Summit League and the Big XII for wrestling. The Southeast Research Farm is located approximately 8 miles from the town of Beresford, SD. The farm has a staff of six employees. In addition to livestock research, the farm also has over 400 acres of crop land which is actively engaged in agronomic research trials. The farm is owned by a non-profit association of farmers organized in the 1950's to support agricultural research in southeastern South Dakota. The association's mission statement is: "A private nonprofit farm association serving southeast South Dakota co-operating with SDSU to conduct unbiased research towards the public good utilizing innovative thinking to enhance resource management in a sustainable manner (economically, environmentally, and socially)." The number one strategic goal of the farm is to improve the character of the soil. Beresford is a small town conveniently located on the I-29 interstate highway and is only 30 miles from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and less than 50 miles from Sioux City, Iowa.
